During my recent travels to San Francisco I took a walk to Japantown and happened upon this adorably hip cyber cafe called YakiniQ Cafe.
It’s located right across from Japantown’s Peace Plaza and after grabbing an early shabu shabu lunch at Shabu-sen I decided to pop in for their famous sweet potato latte and a couple of French macarons, which, if you know me, I can never pass up.
I asked the ever-too-kind barista what exactly was in this sweet potato latte and she told me it was pureed sweet potato (1/3 cup) with a little simple syrup and your choice of milk (2/3 cup), in my case it was soy, all frothed together. The outcome was a perfectly warming drink that wasn’t overly sweet with tiny bits of sweet potato in every sip. I hear you can make this drink caffeinated upon request. I enjoyed my latte with three macarons: earl grey tea, pistachio and coconut. The perfect afternoon snack.
I absolutely heart this cafe. The space was large with maybe ten tables varying in size and a comfy couch to sit in, if you’re lucky enough to get there early to snag it. There is also free wifi for patrons, a large selection of drinks and a counter full of delicious sweets, some house-made…you can’t go wrong!
