Today’s nail salons are filled with unsafe products that are hazardous to your health. Stay home, save money and catch up on your Tivo while giving yourself a fume-free manicure. You can also use the same steps for a natural pedicure.
Start with clean hands, and file your nails making sure to go in the same direction instead of a back and forth sawing motion.
Make a small warm bath of water and/or apple cider vinegar. Add a few drops of olive oil for added moisture and to soften cuticles. The vinegar helps to exfoliate dead skin cells. Let hands soak for a few minutes.
Lightly pat skin dry and rub olive oil back into your cuticles. With an orange stick gently push back cuticles from the nail.
Thoroughly dry you hands and buff nails with buffing block, then go over them with the smoother side to create natural, shiny nails. This will give you the look of wearing nail polish without having to.
If you have really rough hands, you can make an easy exfoliating recipe by combining equal parts sugar with olive oil and gently massaging into skin for 1 minute. Rinse dry.
Finally, moisturize your hands with a cream or lotion, like Aubrey Organics’ Ultimate Moist Hand & Body Lotion or Jason’s Chamomile Hand & Body Therapy.
Voila. Beautiful nails!
