Ever wonder where the A-list celebrities go on vacation. I read a report earlier today that listed a few of the top spots. That led me to research a few more to see where the 2008 top celebrity vacation spots are.
By the way, I only compiled the lists outside of the Continental US because if you counted South Florida and Malibu it would cover just about every celebrity alive. Half of them live there anyway so it is hard to say that they are really “vacation” spots.
1. Hawaii
There is nothing like a tropical pacific island that attracts celebrities. Maybe it is because it is much closer to California and a little easier to get to. A-listers are always attracted to the warm water, beautiful sandy beaches, and luxurious resorts.

2. Mexico
There is something about the Mexico that celebrities just love. The destinations are exotic, there are plenty of luxury resorts, great nightlife, plenty of culture, and it is relatively close for a quick getaway. Whether it is the sizzling hot Cabo San Lucas or the more exotic Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Ixtapa, & Acapulco, the possibilities and variety is endless. When you include the Caribbean side of Mexico that features destinations like Cancun and Playa Del Carmen you can see why Mexico is one of the top celebrity vacation spots.

3. France
Ahhh, just the sound of the word France brings visions of romance in Paris and the beautiful countryside of the Loire Valley. Filled with amazing food and stunning architecture, it is hard to believe that anyone would ever go to Europe and never visit this magical country.
Many of Hollywood’s A-listers have spent their time off in France. Some like it so much that they’ve bought homes there. Reese Witherspoon spent a romantic vacation in Paris with her boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. But during the summer months most celebrities love to vacation further south on the French Riviera and the Mediterranean where celebs revel in the social climate while sunbathing on their yachts.
The Cannes Film Festival in May brings the elite art-loving celebrities including Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Antonio Banderas. Jonney Depp moved to St. Tropez with his family after many summer vacations he spent in the south of France. Catherine Zeta Jones and her husband Michael Douglas spent some time in St. Tropez in July where they relaxed on a boat and enjoyed the beautiful French weather and atmosphere.

4. Caribbean
Who doesn’t like the Caribbean? You got everything from the Bahamas and Jamaica to Barbados, Puerto Rico, St. Barts, St. Martin, and Aruba. OK, so maybe it can get a little windy during hurricane season, but in between catastrophic storms there are few places that can match the beauty of a Caribbean vacation. Maybe this is why so many of the celebrity elite visit the Caribbean.

5. Spain & Italy
Celebrities never get tired of Europe. With the dollar crashing, traveling to Europe is increasingly difficult for all but the very wealthy. The current U.S. economic crisis doesn’t seem to have an impact on the vacation habits of celebrities. They like to go where they feel they can get away and Spain and Italy are two such places.
Everyone knows how much George Clooney loves Italy. As the most celebrated owner on Lake Como, he has created Villa Oleandra, a stunning 15 bedroom Villa that he purchased from the Heinz family in 2002.
Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria and her husband, NBA player Tony Parker, celebrated their first wedding anniversary touring Italy in July.
Spain is filled with breathtaking beauty and includes such notable destinations as Madrid, Barcelona, and the Canary Islands. Orlando Bloom was seem in the Canary Islands in late June with his Victoria Secret angel Miranda Kerr. Not shy about her body being a lingerie model, she was seen going topless - because who wants tan lines?
