Britney Spears and Kevin FederlineIt has been revealed that Britney Spears threatened to commit suicide in front of her two sons during the three-hour police standoff at her Beverly Hills home last Thursday night.

The impaired starlet refused to turn over her sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline during a scheduled visit that night. She reportedly locked herself and her 1-year-old son Jayden James in a bathroom. After witnessing this mental breakdown, Spears’ court-appointed monitor called the authorities.

Spears cried uncontrollably and yelled at police demanding they get out of her house, and threatening them with suicide.

One of the first emergency officers to have arrived on the scene told how Spears shouted, “Get out of here. Leave me and my babies alone. Get out or I’m going to kill myself. I’ll do it. I’ll do it.”

Britney Spears Mental BreakdownThen Britney insisted she speak with Kevin in person, but his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan refused the request and again Spears promised to end her own life.

A source tells the British newspaper Sunday Mirror, “Britney told Kaplan she wanted to ’sort this out with Kevin face-to-face.’ Kaplan said ‘no’ and she started raising her voice and pacing up and down. She told him: ‘Tell him to stop pushing me. Tell him to stop making me feel like I’m not part of my own family. He doesn’t want to have to tell his children he killed their mother.’”

Some tabloids are reporting that Federline panicked when he remembered that Spears had kept two guns in the house. One of those guns he gave Britney as a present during their marriage.

Another insider adds, “Britney said that Kevin could have an incredible $100 million if he’d give her the kids and never see them again. He’s used to Britney going off… but he knew from her voice that this was a whole other thing entirely. He hung up straight away and called his legal team in a panic.”

“He told them that Britney was capable of anything and admitted that she still kept two handguns at the house … The lawyers called the police immediately.”

Alas, Britney was released from Cedar-Sinai Medical Center Saturday afternoon with her father Jamie.

The custody order that suspends her visitation rights to see her sons lasts until January 14th.

It is also reported that Dr. Phil McGraw, a well-known psychologist and friend of Oprah, visited Spears just before she was released.

The “Dr. Phil Show” is taping a special about Britney that will be aired on Wednesday.

McGraw issued a statement to Entertainment Tonight regarding his visit with Spears saying:

“My meeting with Britney and some of her family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention. She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her.”
