Meet Isis, the first transgender contestant to compete for the title of America’s Next Top Model, which airs on the CW September 3, 2008.

Isis, a 22-year-old former receptionist tells Us Weekly, “My cards were dealt differently.” She describes herself as “a woman born physically male.”

Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) president Neil Giuliano is praising the show saying it’s “an unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television.

“We applaud Tyra Banks and The CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible.”
