In 1962, photographer Bert Stern shot a series of photos of Marilyn Monroe at the Hotel Bel-Air that have been known as “The Last Sitting.” These photographs are arguably the most famous images ever captured of America’s most famous actress. Six weeks after she had posed, Monroe was found dead of an apparent drug overdose.
Today Lindsay Lohan graces the cover of New York Magazine with eight photographs shot by Bert Stern to recreate the famous portraits of Norma Jean. The idea for the shoot was from Stern himself saying, “she had a lot more depth to her” than one might suspect from watching her movies.
Whether she will follow in Marilyn’s footsteps - only time will tell. “I sure as hell wouldn’t let it happen to me,” says Lindsay.
