Author John Michael Crichton best known for his science fiction and techno-thriller novels died yesterday of cancer at the age of 66.

He was the author of The Andromeda Strain, Congo, Disclosure, Timeline, State of Fear, Prey, and Next. He was also the creator of ER, but most famous for being the author of Jurassic Park, and its sequel The Lost World.

Michael Crichton was also a medical doctor graduating from Harvard medical School.

“Through his books, Michael Crichton served as an inspiration to students of all ages, challenged scientists in many fields, and illuminated the mysteries of the world in a way we could all understand,” his family said in a statement.
