We have watched Oprah through the years go up and down in her attempts to lose weight. She has always been open and honest about her weight loss struggle and says that in the January issue of “O” magazine due out today that she weighs 200 pounds and has “fallen off the wagon”.

“I’m mad at myself,” Winfrey writes in an article provided early to The Associated Press by Harpo Productions.

“I’m embarrassed,” she writes. “I can’t believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I’m still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, `How did I let this happen again?’”

Oprah, now 54, says she attributes her weight gain to an out-of-balance thyroid that caused her to have a “fear of working out”. In 2006 Oprah weighed in at 160 pounds and in two years has gained the extra 40 pounds.

“Yes, you’re adding correctly; that means the dreaded 2-0-0,” Winfrey writes. “I was so frustrated I started eating whatever I wanted — and that’s never good.”

Oprah says her new goals are to be strong, healthy and fit rather than thin. On her upcoming “Best Life Week” starting January 5, Oprah will talk openly about her weight on her show. She will also be discussing her weight on XM satellite radio’s “The Gayle King Show on January 5 and host interactive live web casts on Oprah.com starting January 12-16 at 9pm EST.

For the past 20 or so years we have watched Oprah’s weight yo-yo up and down. I wonder if this is the time she will finally lose it for good. Yet another example that money can’t buy you happiness.
