When people think of Australian fashion designers, Alex Perry nearly always comes to mind. He has been dubbed “Australia’s Most Glamorous Designer” and has dressed some of the most famous people in the world including the likes of Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson, and Linda Evangelista.
Alex has been known for his romantic touch and elegant style. His ball gowns, wedding dresses, and dramatic evening attire have been featured in Marie Claire, Vogue, Bazaar, Studio, and Bride Magazine.
He opened his first studio in 1992 and focused on creating expensive gowns, and magnificent jewelled corsets. When Vogue Australia photographed these pieces, Alex established a trademark style all his own.
In 1994 Alex moved his salon to Double bay, Sydney where he thrived. He amassed a whos-who list of clients including A-list celebrities and social identities. These “Perry Girls” have helped propel his career even further. Jennifer Lopez and Nelly Furtado both performed and had red-carpet appearances in Alex Perry gowns.
Alex is the only designer to produce a fashion show at the famed Autralian Fashion Week every year since 1995 and his shows have grown so anticipated that they are often said to be the most “glamorous shows of the week”. His runway shows have featured some of modeling’s superstars including Megan Gale, Linda Evangelista, Kate Fisher, Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Cole, and Nicole Trunfio.
After focusing on high-end couture for many years, Alex launched his first “ready to wear” line in 1998. This made his stunning style accessible to a much wider market. This collection is set to the theme of special events. Whether it is a formal dinner, night of cocktails, or a red carpet event, he has you covered. Of course, Alex’s couture signitures are not forgotten with an emphasis on boned corsetry, and sexy, feminine silhouettes. You can find Alex Perry’s collection in selected boutiques in the US, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates.
Alex hasn’t slowed down in recent years with a launch of his Sydney salon at The Strand in May 2002 and his accessory collection in 2006 that features jewelled clutch handbags, bijoux earrings, and glamourous stilettos.
