My life been a bit off kilter as of late, especially in the diet department, so today is the day I bring the focus back to myself starting with my food choices. No time like the present, right?
Those abs I worked so hard to uncover during my cleanse are no where to be seen. Stress, overeating and lack of cardio are to blame, but I have got to get them back…I know they are under there! Who’s with me?
In addition to amping up the veggies, I am also cutting out additional sugars, dairy and processed carbs. No more vanilla chai lattes for me! Which is a bummer because they sure are delicious.
And the cardio, oh the cardio, how I dread you. One hour a day/six days a week. It must be done in order to reveal those abs we work so hard to see. You can do whatever you like. For me it will be a combination of jogging outside, walking and spinning classes, in conjunction with my daily yoga and Pilates classes.
My goal for these posts is to give you healthy recipes and ideas on healthy eating, specific ab exercises you can do from home, and an update on what I am doing on a somewhat daily basis for the next 4-6 weeks, which is how long I think it will take me to get the abs I want, as long as I am consistent.
I like to do these little experiments on myself and I promise to take before and after photos wearing the same outfit this time. I know I got a lot of comments about that when I did my cleanse.
Let’s start with this almost raw chopped salad I made this morning:
I found this chopped salad recipe in a local magazine. It’s perfect because this recipe yields a lot, is mostly raw, and will load you up on a variety of different veggies in one fork-full. The prep takes about 20-30 minutes, but once you’re done you’ll be able to chow on this salad for the rest of the week. Feel free to swap out something you don’t like.
Almost Raw Chopped Salad Recipe
In a bowl combine the following ingredients and chill for a few hours if you’d like before eating.
- 2 ears sweet corn, cut off the cob
- 4 heirloom tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cucumber, chopped
- 1/4 cup red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup green cabbage, chopped
- 1/2 green onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup cauliflower, chopped
- 1/4 cup celery, chopped
- 3 tsp red wine vinegar
- 1 Tbs mustard
- 1/2 tsp raw agave nectar
- 2 tsp sea salt
- 2 Tbs fresh dill, chopped
- 5 Tbs olive oil
So what can you do with this salad besides eat it by itself? I would add shredded chicken breast or use it as a side to fresh fish.

Good luck in getting back your abs!
I wish I could try the Standard Process Cleanse you were on but I think they don’t ship internationally?

The only way to get the SP Cleanse is through a health care professional. You would have to contact Standard Process directly to find someone, if there is anyone, in your area.
