I’ve wanted a pair of these babies for a while now, but they aren’t the most attractive kicks around and the MBT (Masai Barefoot Technology) shoes are wicked expensive, running about $150-250 for a pair. Skechers just came out with their own less expensive version costing about $99 a pair called Skechers Women’s Shape Ups - Strength Fitness and Conditioning Shoe.

What makes these shoes so appealing is their unique design that actually tones your muscles, helping to reshape your legs and butt and reduce cellulite. How you ask? By putting your body back into proper alignment and “turning on” sleeping muscles, like the hamstrings and glutes so they are active and becoming stronger as you stand and walk around.

They look funky and chunky because they are actually rocking you slightly backwards, which in turns tucks your tailbone under (the opposite of sticking your butt out) and therefore strengthens those said muscles. And the curved sole allows you to roll your foot all the way through rather than most flat shoes. These videos show you how MBT shoes work. Check it out!

I have never tried either shoe, but I do know people who swear by MBT. The Sketchers Shape Ups may not be as good, as the MBT technology may be far superior. If you have either shoe tell me your experience with them. Both shoes can be purchased from Zappos.com.
