Here’s another reason not to drink the water — it’s contaminated with drugs, including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones.
As a pill-popping, over-medicated society I’m not surprised that our tap water is riddled with pharmaceuticals. You can’t watch a single television show without seeing a drug commercial that will shrink you, enlarge you, or unbloat you. Drug big-wigs wouldn’t constantly advertise this stuff if it didn’t bring them big bucks and big consumers. They literally push this stuff down our throats and eventually it ends up in our drinking water, my drinking water.
You see the body doesn’t absorb all of the medication and it passes right through into our wastewater. This water is treated, but apparently municipal systems aren’t aware or don’t have a process in place to treat the water to remove all drug residue. In my hometown of Philadelphia, PA there have been 56 different drugs found in the tap water! Scary.
And even more alarming is the only reason this report is public knowledge is because it got into the hands of the Associated Press. Otherwise it would be unbeknownst to us.
But don’t bother buying bottled water or home filtration systems. That won’t help. Some bottled water is simply repackaged tap water — think Pepsi’s Dasani or Coca Cola’s Aquafina. I remember when Dasani first came out. People said it tasted better than regular water! They certainly don’t treat or test for pharmaceuticals; besides being a waste of cash. Ditto for home filtration. Also think about all the liquids you drink that are made with tap water — teas, juices, dare I say Smart Water?
Scientist really don’t know if the trace amounts of drugs in our water will cause any harmful effects on humans. Are they serious? Of course there’s reason for concern! In a few years there will be mutant babies born with seven fingers and fifteen toes.
As for me, I don’t even like taking aspirin for my headache, so now I have to suffer because as a society we are brainwashed to think that we need medication to make our lives better - and I am drinking your leftovers. Thanks America. What do I owe this great pleasure?
