The Scary Truth About What You Put Under Your Arm
Listen up ladies, and you guys too! I know you think sweating is gross and you want to apply gobs and gobs of your roll-on deodorant to mask underarm wetness before you workout, but let me tell you a little something, and listen closely, this is important and can save you from diseases in the future.
Read the ingredients on the back of your deodorant, whether you use a stick or spray. If you see aluminum listed on the back, TRASH IT! It may save your life. Aluminum is known to cause diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and even breast cancer. So why would you want to put that stuff on your skin, especially close to your breasts? Your skin is the largest organ on your body so it sucks up whatever you put on it and sends it right into your bloodstream.
Take a little trip to a natural grocer like Whole Foods, Mother’s Market or even Trader Joe’s, and pick up some natural deodorant. Some great products are Tom’s of Maine, J/A/S/O/N, Aubrey Organics and Avalon Organics. You will notice that you sweat more and that is OK. Don’t think you have to go back to your old stuff. Your body sweats to get rid of toxins. It’s cleansing and necessary, so why would you want to block it and store it in your body? Eww!
If you find that you smell when you sweat, well, that’s another issue and topic I’ll discuss later. That has to do with your diet.
