A friend and I bought a tasty olive hummus today and decided to make it ourselves because you really can’t have too much hummus laying around the house, can you? Serve it up on some pita, crunchy crackers or celery.

Since I never cook with exact measurements I’m going to give you my best guesstimates on how much of each ingredient I used, but really you’ll know just by tasting if you need to make changes. If you use raw, soaked garbanzo beans and raw olives this recipe can be eaten by you raw foodies out there.

  • 3/4’s can of garbanzo beans
  • juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 10 olive of your choice, pitted
  • Plus 3 Tbs olive juice
  • sea salt
  • 2 Tbs raw tahini

Blend all ingredients in a food processor except the salt. Taste and season or make changes as necessary.

Note: you can find raw tahini at WholeFoods or your local health food store.
