Makes 4 dozen cookies.

• 1/2 cup shortening
• 3/4 cup peanut butter
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 Tbs milk
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 1/3 cups unsifted flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• sugar
• 1 (9 ounce) package chocolate kisses

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Cream shortening and peanut butter. Add sugar and brown sugar. Add egg, milk, and vanilla and beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add creamed mixture and blend thoroughly. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven immediately and place an unwrapped kiss on top of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet and cool.
