By now you should know that I have a love for bacon, and ice cream…and bacon-flavored ice cream. If you don’t, shame on you, you should be visiting my blog more often, as well as commenting about how awesome you think I am. Hehe!

Anyhow, a friend of mine sent me an email with a recipe for a super fast and healthier version of ice cream that you can make with just a blender - no ice cream maker required. This ice cream is quick and dirty. It literally takes all of 60 seconds to whip up. And depending on what liquid you use you’re looking at a 1/2 cup of ice cream ranging from 135-175 calories, plus there is no sugar added! This recipe is also great for kids and moms who are tired of feeding their children sugary, unhealthy desserts.

Here’s what you’ll need for this healthy ice cream recipe:

  • 1 frozen banana (It’s best to peel the banana before you freeze it. Makes life much easier, trust me)
  • 1 1/2 Tbs heavy cream or half & half
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 2 pinches of cinnamon

In a high powered blender whip all ingredients together until smooth like ice cream.

The fist time I tried this I was blown away at how good this ice cream was. If you’re not a fan of bananas you can also try frozen mangoes or peaches or a combination of all three. I’ve never tried it with any other fruit besides a banana, but experiment with whatever fruits you like, just make sure you freeze them beforehand.
