- 1 cup butter, melted
- 5 cups flour
- 5 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla (or anise, lemon, orange extract)
For the icing (optional):
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 teaspoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Beat eggs and add melted butter, sugar, vanilla, sifted flour and baking powder. Roll into walnut-sized balls. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until bottoms are slightly golden.
For the icing: Make a thick paste with confectioners sugar, milk, and almond extract. Dip tops of cookies into icing and place onto cooling rack to dry. For the holidays, sprinkle festive sugar or sprinkles while the icing is still wet, or add food coloring to the icing.
