Makes approximately 5 dozen cookies.
- 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups uncooked whole grain oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Beat together shortening, sugar, egg, water, and vanilla until creamy. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes.
