The Mint Julep is a traditional southern drink associated with the Kentucky Derby. This drink can be prepped a day ahead and made into the perfect non-alcoholic party beverage. For a true mint julep add 2-3 ounces of Kentucky Bourbon to each glass.
- 1 6 ounce can frozen grapefruit juice concentrate, reconstituted
- 1 cup fresh cut mint leaves
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup lime juice
- 2 7 ounce bottles sparkling water
- ice cubes
- mint sprigs for garnish
Bring 2 cups grapefruit juice just to a boil in a medium sauce pan. Combine cut mint and sugar in a medium bowl and mash with a fork. Pour hot juice over mint minxture. Cool slightly and strain juice. Discard mint. Add remaining grapefruit juice and lime juice to strained juice. Refrigerate.
To serve, add sparkling water and pour over ice in a tall glass and garnish with a sprig of mint.
