Camapari is an alcoholic apertif (an appetizer enjoyed before a large meal), made from the infusion of sixty ingredients that is blended with distilled water and alcohol for a few weeks. The final product is a bitter because of its bittersweet flavor.
The recipe for Campari, which was invented by Gaspare Campari in 1860 in Novara, Italy, is top secret. Luca Garavoglia, the president of the Campari Group, is the only person in the world who knows the entire formula for the original family recipe.
Whenever I have a party I make this Orange Campari Sprtizer and it’s a hit.
- 1 cup Campari
- 1 liter mineral water
- 2 cans frozen orange juice concentrate
- orange slices
Mix all ingredients in a pitcher and serve over ice. Makes 12 servings.
