Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

This is the perfect sauce to go atop gyros, a Greek salad or to dip veggies.

Cucumber and Mint Yogurt Sauce

  • 3 cups plain yogurt or 2 cups plain yogurt and 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons fresh dill or oregano, chopped
  • Salt & fresh ground black pepper to taste

Measure yogurt into a medium bowl and set aside. Peel cucumber, slice in half lengthwise, seed and dice. In food processor or blender, add cucumber, garlic, lime juice, mint, dill or oregano, and a few grinds of black pepper. Process until well blended, then stir into yogurt. Place in refrigerator for at least two hours before serving so flavors can blend. Tzatsiki sauce is excellent with grilled meats and vegetables.
