Meet Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. It’s one of the biggest shopping days in the US and signifies the start of Christmas shopping.

Black Friday came about when retailers went from being unprofitable, or “in the red”, to profitable, or “in the black”. This was at a time when accounting records were done by hand using black ink for profits and red ink to indicate a loss.
