Love Fifi LingerieYesterday I took a trip down memory lane. Well, actually it was to Burbank, Ca, to visit my old place of work, LoveFifi.com, a sexy lingerie internet retailer that caters to almost every size woman.

It was also my first job when I moved out from Philadelphia. I remember seeing their ad on monster.com and desperately hoping that I would get the job. And I did! I worked there for almost four fun-filled years before moving down to Orange County. So LoveFifi has a special place in my heart. It was like my second home, literally, since I was there more than the apartment I rented.

It was a surprise visit, so no one knew we were arriving. And by we I mean my fiance and I. He also used to work for LoveFifi. It has been about 2 years since I saw the team, which consists of a small group of very hard working people. We were one big happy family. When we walked in everyone was sitting around the lunch table and they all stared at us for a few seconds, stunned I believe, before giving us big welcome hugs.

We got a tour of their new facility and then it was back to work, just like old times. I feel very lucky to have been a part of LoveFifi from the very beginning. I was hired as a graphic designer, but I also helped with customer service, packing orders and photo shoots.

LoveFifi was the brainchild of founder (and my former boss), Amanda. Her kids used to call her Fifi when she would get all dolled up to go out and the nickname stuck. Amanda has been in the lingerie biz for many years, as the lead bra and hosiery designer for Frederick’s of Hollywood, when Frederick Mellinger was still alive and the brand was at full force. She also designed and reinvented the corset in the 1990s. So the resurgence of the sexy corset in today’s fashion is largely thanks to Amanda. She has a partner in crime, Gary Landry. He was the former CEO of Frederick’s of Hollywood online and has extensive technology background at Fortune 1000 companies (so says my fiance). He crunches the numbers and makes sure the website and the daily operations of the company are running smoothly.

This is Fifi! You can see what Fifi looks like on their website: www.lovefifi.com. She is idolized in cartoon form. And she is always wearing something in leopard or pink or has a feather boa or tiara. Not just in her cartoon, but in real life, too!

Make sure you read all of Fifi’s witty articles or write personal emails to her. Even though they are now a multi-million dollar company with a massive number of customers, she still answers each and every one of her loyal fans herself, I kid you not. Signing her letters “Love, Fifi” you truly can’t help but love Fifi when you meet her. She is a remarkable and talented person and I am grateful to have had the honor of working for her and share in her vision. She sometimes called me “mini fifi” (because I’m 4′10″).

LoveFifi.com LingerieLoveFifi.com has grown into a very well-known lingerie company. They sell everything from corsets to bras, to sexy costumes and lingerie in sizes small to 4X.

Virtually all of the images are shot right in their own studio (unlike most online lingerie sites that just use stock photos from the vendors). Fifi has been doing photo shoots for years, so she has an amazing eye for detail and all the garments turn out looking unbelievably fabulous. I once did the retouching, color-correcting, cropping and tweaking of the images for the website.

LoveFifi has super fast shipping and amazing prices. You can always find a good deal on the site or join their mailing list so you never miss a sale. Go check their site out right now! That’s an order!

Love,
Mini Fifi

I am not always the sharpest pencil in the box and today, thanks to my co-workers, I found this unbelievable tribute about my company written by the lovely Tara Simon. We all read it and it brought each of us to tears. Tara was such an intregal part of our company and she took no credit for it at all in her well-written essay. To this day we still use the homepages and ads that she herself created. They were fabulous and timeless.
She and her fiance, Byron, were both major contributors to LoveFifi in it’s first years. We were so happy that they both went on to incredible success, but they are always missed.

Thank you, Tara for such beautiful sentiments about a company that you and Byron helped build. I am so sorry that it took me so many months to discover what you wrote. I am thrilled and honored by your words.
    Love, Fifi(Amanda)
