Season 8 of American Idol will bring a few changes to the roster. For starters there will be a fourth judge Kara DioGuardi to even out the testosterone. Then instead of a full month of the best and worst auditions that most of us love a little too much will be shortened down to three weeks, followed by 2 weeks of the Hollywood round.

According to some “leaked” memo, (we know how Hollywood works; nothing is leaked), “promotional thrust will have fewer bad singers and more ‘aspirational’ singers.”

Also, instead of the final 24 the judges will narrow down the contestants to the final 36, which will eventually become the Top 12. In addition the wild card round will be brought back. And lastly the “Idol Gives Back” show will be no more.
