On of Bravo TV’s top rated shows, Project Runway, is moving to rival cable network Lifetime Television.
Bravo’s parent company, NBC Universal, is not happy about this move and filed suit Monday in the New York State Supreme Court against Project Runway’s producer, The Weinstein Co. NBC is claiming that they had the first right of refusal for any future seasons or spinoffs.
NBC has been trying for years to get exclusive rights to broadcast future airings of Project Runway, but Weinstein wanted them to agree to fund a few of their unrelated films for many millions of dollars or threaten to move to another network.
As of right now, the sixth season of Project Runway will air on Lifetime starting in November as part of a five-year deal.
Project Runway seems a bit too hip and cool for a channel that shows nothing but a snooze fest of after-school specials.
